Speed Racer Mach 5 - Acme Design (2012)

This in-house project involved sculpting a well-known cartoon vehicle from scratch as though it were a real car. Many different interpretations of this car already existed, but the aim here was to create a very streamlined, 'sexy' form that honored the cartoon as much as possible while bringing that often-amorphous design into the real world. Merging different approaches and designing the intersecting lines of an organic form like this within those parameters was a fun challenge. The most significant and successful I feel was in keeping the rear intake/scoops integrated with the overall form, while retaining the triangular rear intake shapes seen in the cartoon, which almost every interpretation I've seen struggles with. There are also some goofy easter eggs in the tire design.
